Anil Kapoor scores over Demi Moore

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor is keen on establishing himself as a global icon and has recently won the grand prize at a prestigious international awards event, beating the likes of Demi Moore.
Serving as the ambassador for The Freedom Project, an organisation working to eradicate slavery and human trafficking, Anil accepted the Gold Prize in the Cultural Issues category for the documentary titled ‘Trapped By Tradition’ at the New York Festival's International TV and Film Awards 2012. The Silver prize was awarded to Hollywood actress Demi Moore for a documentary based on trafficking in Nepal.
The event was studded with stars such as singer Peter Gabriel, Latin superstar Ricky Martin and actor Ashton Kutcher. Anil shared his enthusiasm over winning with the media and said that it was more important to create awareness about global issues such as human trafficking than winning an award for the same. He revealed that, through the initiatives of many good Samaritans, nearly 2,000 women had been rescued from this scourge of modern-day slavery.
He also added that while filming for the documentary he visited a number of villages and was shocked to learn about horrifying stories the victims of trafficking had to share. Their narrations moved him to create awareness about the evils of certain traditions that are being currently practiced by several people.
Apparently the 52-year-old ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ actor initiated and hosted the documentary with the help of the NGO Plan India
